If you remove old carpeting or a built up floor and now the door trim is a bit too short don t fret.

These decorative square wood blocks often found in older homes are used at the corners and bottom of wood trim. Doors are made 80 inches long. My question can the jamb somehow be repaired. The door jamb and molding are now too short.

Fix them with the wood door extender. I ve just had new carpet fitted with thick underlay but as soon as fittter had left and i went to close sitting room door i realised carpet is too high and the door had to be forced hard to close. It s low cost made from wood easy diy install no screws no need to take door off hinges. So go green and save a door. I had the same problem on a few doors when i had the carpeting removed and laminate installed. With wood filler that can be sanded and painted perhaps.

Sometimes carpenters can fill that space in with wood and since its painted it would hide the fact that its a sliver of wood down there. They are even made from recycled woods.
