I recently moved into a new home and i discovered that the previous homeowner was a little sloppy with their painting. When painting near tile the occasional drop or splash of liquid color may find its way into the porous grout. Once the paint s had a chance to dry i waited about 2 hours you can start to remove the excess paint from the surface of your tiles.

Grout presents a bit more of a challenge however because it is very porous material unless it has been well sealed. Is there any way to remove dried paint from tile grout. Neither of these types of solvents will damage tiles. The best way to get paint out of grout is with the right materials and technique.

How to remove dried paint. Used grout paint on our guest bathroom last summer i had always hated how the white tile looked with dark gray grout. They painted all over the edge of the grout. At first i alternated between using a plain wet rag and a scrubbing kitchen sponge and i actually found the wet rag to be the most effective at removing the dried paint.

You can remove dried oil paint the same way. Simply remove the paint from the grout and take care to do so gently. You can also use isopropyl alcohol. Try scrubbing grout with a citrus based paint remover and a toothbrush then wipe clean.

A note on grout. If you are dealing with dried latex paint use a paint remover designed for latex paint to get rid of the residue. If grouting was never properly sealed it may be a challenge to remove paint between tiles.
